About me:

FROM RELIGION TO RELATIONSHIP

Hey,

My name is Andre Nel. Born in South Africa. Now living in Germany. Married to Vicky. We have a Jack Russel called Bella.

I grew up in a Pentecostal Church. Since childhood I have been in church. Sunday morning and evening services, Wednesday evenings prayer meetings, Youth meetings, camps, Sunday school.

I am grateful for all my parents led us into, but there for me there was something missing. There must be more to being a Christian than what I experienced in church.

After school I left the church behind me and started taking part in many worldly things – Alkohol, parties, motorcycles, fighting, sexual relationships and all other things the world offer.

In 1984 I was nearly killed in a terrorist attack. I was a police officer at that time. I landed in hospital but was released a few days later. Bullit through the head, shoulder and earlobe.

In 1995 or maybe 1996, I am not sure of the exact year, my younger brother died in a car crash. His wife was paralyzed. His death rocked my world and I went through a very very deep time of depression and regret.

A colleague at work invited me to come to church with him. I refused to go with, because I wanted nothing to do with church.

He kept on inviting me, eventually I gave in and went to church with him. I sat far in the back. Did not want to mix with the crowd. And then, suddenly – Jesus was there …..
